Camping? Great Reasons to partake

Sporting activities, beautiful hill walks and enjoying some real family togetherness are just a few of the reasons camping is making a revival in the UK.

When you picture camping, you may think of muddy fields at music festivals or sitting around a camp fire singing folk tunes. This is only part of the truth; camping in the UK offers much much more.

In 2013 the British Camping and Caravanning Club saw an increase in their bookings by 14 per cent. We’ve taken a look at why people keep on returning to the campsite.

It relaxes the mind

After you pitch your tent and get the camping area ready, you can sit back and enjoy doing absolutely nothing. All those monotonous daily tasks will leave your mind once you’re in the great outdoors.

Enjoy nature

There is no better remedy to a week spent in a stuffy office than a long evening walk guided by one of our awesome solar lights.  Walking through the country at dusk will give you the chance to enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Visit Britain has a fantastic list of hotspots which is sure to get you in the mood for a camping holiday.

You stay connected

Camping no longer leaves you out of touch with the outside world. With mobile phones and laptops, you will still be able to keep up to speed with emails and make those important business calls if the need arises.

And with our terrific selection of solar chargers, finding a place to charge your electrics is no longer an issue.

It is Glamorous

There is also the option of glamour camping, or ‘Glamping’, as it is affectionately known. Glamping involves having someone else set up your luxury tent, cook your meals and set your double bed. It’s basically hotel service meets traditional camping.

Glamping may be more expensive, but it removes all the unpleasantness of camping and is perfect for anyone who doesn’t fancy getting dirt under their fingernails. Further information and a guide to Britain’s top glamping sites is available here.

Quality family time

Getting your family together around a campfire is a unique and interesting way to bond. There will be no TV, no work to worry about and it will be just loved ones; so make the best of it and really enjoy your together time.

This list from the Guardian will give you an idea of the best family orientated camp sites in the UK.

Cooking outdoors

Who doesn’t enjoy roasting marshmallows around an open fire or barbequing a burger to perfection? Camping gives you the opportunity to get in touch with your inner caveman, or cavewoman, and go back to basics.

Not sure what to cook? Not to worry, the BBC offer an excellent list of recipe options here.

Learn new skills

After a camping trip you’ll probably know how to build a fire and teach your kids how to be safe around one, how to protect yourself from mosquitoes and other insects, and come to realise that you can survive without many of the amenities you use in everyday life.

Camping is a fantastic way to get to know yourself and those around you.

Pet-Friendly holiday

There are so many holidays where you have to leave the four legged member of the family at home. However camping gives you the chance to bring your pets, which is ideal as you’ll have another companion on those long nature walks.

Just make sure they don’t chew up your brand new Solar Eco Torch!

Camping is Affordable

In the current economic climate holidaying can often be just too expensive for many families. However, even if you are on a shoe string budget, camping is affordable. The Daily Mail offer an excellent list of affordable campsites.

You can also avoid extra expense by cooking your own food and providing your own entertainment with games and stories. So if you’re looking for a trip that’s not going to burn a hole in your pocket, get out there and pitch that tent.

Happy camping everyone!
